PERSONAL CHOICE / KEYSTONE RX CHANGE TO FUTURESCRIPTS
Independence Blue Cross and Keystone Health Plan East have announced that they have established their own company, FutureScripts, to manage the administration of commercial prescription drug programs beginning October 1, 2006.
By bringing pharmacy management in-house, they will be able to better control those costs that have the most impact on the bottom line of their customers. Specifically, they will:
- Contract directly with retail pharmacies
- Negotiate directly with prescription drug manufacturers
- Develop a generic pricing list to maximize cost savings for generic drugs
- Closely align medical and drug benefit designs for greater effectiveness in managing total health care costs
FutureScripts will replace the current retail drug processing arrangement with Caremark. Please note that Caremark will continue to provide mail-order services as part of IBC / Keystone’s prescription drug programs.
As always, please contact us if you have any questions.

NJ PASSES ADULT DEPENDENT LEGISLATION
New Jersey has recently passed legislation giving adult children under age 30 the right to continue medical coverage under their parent's group health coverage. The new legislation only applies to group health insurance policies issued in the State of New Jersey. It does NOT apply to group insurance policies issued in other states, even if you have employees who reside or work in NJ. If you'd like more information about this legislation:
